It’s time to celebrate the season. Let’s begin it with a holiday quote.

Believe it or not, this photo was taken in Arizona. We escaped from the Washington, D.C. winter right into this Phoenix storm. When stuck in a snowstorm, have a snowball fight for your photo op.

Did you know that the term snowbird refers to a person from a cold climate going to a warm climate, like Arizona, for the winter? Goes to show you that in life there are no guarantees, especially with weather.

Winter is not a season, it’s a celebration. ~ Anamika Mishra

The snow is sparkling like a million little suns. ~ Lama Willa

There’s just something beautiful about walking in snow that nobody else has walked on. It makes you believe you’re special. ~ Carol Brunt

When snow falls, nature listens. ~ Antoinette Kleef

No snowflake ever falls in the wrong place. ~ Unknown

Happiness is first tracks on fresh snow. ~ Unknown

‘Tis the Season to be Freezing. ~ Unknown

These Boots are Made for Warming

The trick to wearing a dress or skirt on a winter day’s photo shoot is to make sure you have thermal pants underneath.

Photo shoot tips on wardrobe

The trick to wearing a dress or skirt on a winter day’s photo shoot is to make sure you have thermal pants underneath. Lesson learned!

Christkindlmarkt Fraueninsel

There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes

The above quote really resonates with me. Although I was wearing a hat plus a super thick coat in the above image, the boots were not warm enough for that very windy day by the lake when I toured Scotland in August 2017. One’s feet must be clothed with thick socks and fur-lined boots. I did not have the proper shoes. My shoes were soaked, and I was miserable on that cold rainy excursion. The rain came at me sideways, that was an experience I will never forget.

Christkindlmarkt Fraueninsel was another day without proper warm boots. At the aforementioned Christmas Market, I thought I was set, apparently, NOT so! After that escapade, I have the best boots lined with fur, and, as a bonus, they are super comfortable. I purchased these beautifully designed boots at 50% off after that freezing December 2016 day in Munich. Truthfully, I would have paid full retail, that’s how important the right footwear is.

I used to despise cold weather because of improper wardrobe. I enjoy it now. Yes, when you are warm and comfortable, then …

It’s never too cold for ice cream. ~ Unknown

People don’t notice whether it’s winter or summer when they’re happy. ~ Anton Chekhov

Words of Winter Wisdom

Interesting how a quote comes about; how we each have, in one way or another, experienced the very same situation. Which of the following do you relate to best?

What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.

~ John Steinbeck

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. ~ Anne Bradstreet

This year, I will have to make my own mulled wine, and in some way re-create the joy found in the huge European yuletide markets.

I also will try to make:

-Gingerbread,

-Stollen (sweet cake with fruits and nuts, very rich),

-Marzipan (a sugar and ground almonds confection), and

-A yet to be decided baked goodie with lots of cinnamon.

I’ll be sure to share any recipe secrets with you.

Please enjoy late November, the start of the gratitude season, as well as the rest of 2020. I’ll leave you with this quote of mine.

Trim the tree, light the menorah candles, stuff the stockings, mix up some eggnog, and sit back for the most gram-worthy time of year. ~ Ann Tran

And to all a good night!

Wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season.

I love the scents of winter! For me, it’s all about the feeling you get when you smell pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, and spruce. ~ Taylor Swift
