The song One Love resonates with me as my social media theme song especially in this YouTube video here, taken from the documentary “Playing For Change: Peace Through Music”. Here, the classic Bob Marley tune is played by Keb’ Mo’ and Manu Chao and the collaboration is truly inspiring.

In social media, we have a similar opportunity to connect with friends around the world. We tweet and share our photos, thoughts and adventures with people who may live on the other side of the globe. I’ve met some wonderful friends, first here on Twitter, and have transferred the friendships to other platforms and even some to real life meet-ups, conferences and trips. I feel that if we work together and participate in the movement for the better and tweet for change, it can be done.

I found proof that this is true just a few weeks ago. The Guardian UK posted an online article about how technology is coming up with innovative ways to help people and support development. Even in Rwanda, a country with a troubled past, Twitter is helping connect the people with their government to facilitate real change.

Whatever your passion or goal, I know that we can work together and make the change for the better collectively.

I asked eight other folks this question: What song captures the essence and energy of social media for you?
