Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22nd, and across the world, countries, cities, groups and individuals come out to show their support for environmental protection. So as I was thinking about Earth Day and the importance of reducing your carbon footprint as much as possible, I love the Verizon Hopeline program which accepts donated old cell phones.

Anyone can donate the phones that they are no longer using, from any provider, as well as batteries, chargers and other accessories to HopeLine, and Verizon uses those funds to provide cash grants to organizations fighting against domestic violence. It also means that 10 million phones are recycled and refurbished by HopeLine, and 2.1 million phones are recycled under Verizon’s “zero-landfill” policy.

Verizon also takes going green a step further by building LEED®-certified and ENERGY STAR®-certified retail stores, and use solar power to help power their network.

How you de-clutter your life, recycle, reuse or save energy? We want to hear from you! Share a photo of your Earth Day and green ideas throughout April with us in one of these ways:
