What is your favorite season?

I appreciate all the seasons, but I tend to grab the camera most often during the spring and fall.  Spring offers the burst of rainbow colors from all the vibrant flowers emerging as a colorful welcome to the new season.

In the fall, I cherish the Indian summer that we get on the East Coast. I love the yellow, red, orange, and pink hues that color the world in fall.  Not only do I relish the colors, I simply adore the crisp, cool weather that goes with the season.

Depending on where you live, you may enjoy tropical blossoms year round. Ah, a tropical paradise, that’s where I long to settle down some day.

I would like to share with you a collection of photos I recently took with my iPhone and my Canon T2i.

Recently, I joined Instagram and I must admit, I love it a bit too much! It’s fun to play with all the new apps available for iPhone and a person can easily get carried away.

Although I love snapping shots with my iPhone, I still like to take pictures with my Canon T2i.  Sometimes you just don’t want to take a chance on messing with the natural beauty of Mother Nature and the Canon T2i works beautifully for those times.  For example, in this photo, the palette of colors is just perfect – untouched, “as is”:

Here are some photos I took of Great Falls Park in Virginia.
I hope you enjoy this quick tour of one of my favorite parks in the DC Metro area.

A walk along the Potomac or through the woods on one of the park's trails offers a glimpse into the natural scenery here.
Winter is definitely not one of my favorite seasons because, sometimes, it’s a bit too cold for me. However, there is great beauty in photographing ice and snow.  Please share your favorite season with me.

  1. I too love the spring and fall, colors are all around us, however there is also a joy in the summer and winter as well, especially the stark contrasts of winter in the Midwest. When I played golf, I would play the courses the three seasons and return in the winter. Camera in hand I would walk through the snow, examining the tracks and knowing the life still abounds beneath the surface.

  2. Hi Ann
Love the photos 🙂 I tend to take my camera (phone!) with me whenever I’m out and about – usually when walking the dog. Like you, I find something to enjoy about all seasons, but I think my favourite is summer because of the colours in the gardens and the warmth … although that hasn’t tended to be a given her in the UK recently!
    Regards
    Debbie

  3. While I do enjoy fall the most, I try to find something in all the seasons to like and enjoy. I love a walk in the crisp winter air, especially after a snowfall. Love your photographs as well.

  5. Hi Ann, What a great post to read as Sandy barrels down on the east coast. A calm during the storm, so thank you. I grew up in Potomac, right near Great Falls and visit there quite often. Thanks for the smile!

  6. Hi Ann,

These are great shots. And your love of instagram…well, we all benefit, so keep on lovin’!
I feel very fortunate to live where I do; some complain about the change of seasons here in Michigan, but I revel in it. I don’t get up north as often as I’d like, especially in the Fall when the scenery compares to none I know.

All my best to you, John

    1. Hi John,

I love to see all the photos from around the world via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. It’s an amazing time we are living in.

      Best,
      Ann

  7. Beautiful pics! I love the first one (with the kayaker) the most. My fave season depends on where I live at the moment – winter in Poland and Latvia is beautiful but damn cold (last year in January -30 degrees Celsius each day…yuck) and I am the same as you – I like the warmer months much, much (muuuch) more…

    1. Hi Alexandra,

The kayaker is definitely brave. I would love to visit Poland and Latvia in the warmer seasons. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Great pictures. Every season has its own charm and beauty. I find winter the toughest to get through cause of the light and snow issues in cold places like Boston, but can appreciate the beauty of it. Also when you see that fist flower pushing through the almost melted snow, it is like hope pushing through all of the dark spots in life.

    1. Hi Suchismita,

Every season has its own charm and beauty, so true. I lived in Portsmouth, NH for two years and Love New England! Thank you for stopping by.
