Sean Gardner and I hosted a fun-filled and electrifying inauguration tweet-up to celebrate as history was made, held at the fashionable Washington D.C. hot spot Edgar Bar & Kitchen in the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel. The guests came decked out in festive red, white and blue, ready to rejoice in the deliciously festive cocktails and indulge in some truly divine American comfort food with their fellow D.C. social media friends.
We all had such a wonderful time Monday night, as you can see from these smiling faces. I hope to see you at our next tweet-up at Edgar Bar & Kitchen on Tuesday, February 19 for a social media week meet-up. Details to follow.
I would like to thank Keith McLinsey, Director of Sales at the Mayflower for providing the beautiful leis for our event—every guest received one! The leis represent Hawaii, President Obama’s home state, and contributed a lovely touch to our joyful night.
Another thank you goes to Monica Villa, @TheOnlineMom, for contributing the Fitbit prizes for the best dressed in a red, white and blue ensemble. The three winning stars are featured here from left to right: Liv @LViolette, Rose @rchau and Alex @TheAlexLop. Thank you to Edgar Bar & Kitchen for awarding the winner Liv Violette with a delicious Sunday Brunch. Her creative red, white and blue outfit definitely deserved it! Congrats to all three of our winners. Did you know that Rose is a fitness fanatic? : )
Even the restaurant’s Chef Christopher Kanaple took the time out of his very busy schedule to greet the guests and chat with them about the party menu.
We even got to chat with popular MSNBC host and best-selling author Chris Matthews and his wife Kathleen Matthews, CCO for Marriott International. I’m always surprised at who you will meet up or run into at a tweet-up—I get to meet the most interesting people!
I truly had a wonderful time with all my D.C. Tweeters. Thanks to all of you who attended! As @2morrowknight says:
Meeting people face-to-face is very important. Social media should never be a replacement for real life connections. If you missed this event, don’t worry—please join me on Tuesay, February 19th for another lively night at Edgar. Stay tuned for the next Edgar Tweet-Vite http://tweetvite.com/event/EdgarDC

Thanks for hosting such a great event. @2morrowknight is right – it’s important to meet face to face. Validates the time that we spend connecting online and makes those connections even more valuable because they are REAL. Look forward to more great events and celebrity run ins.
